Cultural Diversity Day 2026

By the time the first dishes reached the canteen on the 25th June, the smell alone had people leaving their desks. Staff popped in on breaks, filled a plate, and had a chat. The tables told their own story: pink soup from Lithuania, soda farls from Ireland, Romanian doughnuts, and pineapple cake from Portugal.

There was colour everywhere: flags, traditional clothing, and food from across the world. Music played in the corner, and colleagues shared family recipes, street food favourites, and stories from home.

Cultural Diversity Day was vibrant, busy, and one of the best-attended days on the calendar.

Twenty-Four Countries Under One Roof

Arthur Mallon Foods has always been a people business, but Cultural Diversity Day reminded us just how varied our team is. Twenty-four nationalities, twenty-four places our colleagues call home, all coming together each morning through the same factory gates in Hilden, Monaghan.

It was a chance to celebrate that, with great food and even better company!

Michelle, from our accounts department, summed up the spirit of the day beautifully:

“As a Kiwi, I really appreciated how inclusive the day felt. Learning about everyone’s traditions, food, and stories reminded me how much we can learn from each other.”

The Food Said Everything

Gessyca, from Brazil, brought a homemade carrot bundt cake with chocolate ganache, a popular centrepiece at family gatherings and celebrations.

André, from Angola, also brought in a bundt cake to share with colleagues.

For many, it was the first time trying these dishes. For those who made them, it was a small piece of home shared with colleagues.

Bela, from Georgia, brought homemade sweet and savoury dishes, including khachapuri, and kubdari. Neither the cheese-filled khachapuri nor the meat-filled kubdari lasted long.

Dmytro, from Ukraine, brought homemade syrnyky, a traditional cottage cheese pancake, along with a poster explaining its origin and ingredients.

Ionela brought Romanian doughnuts, known as papanași. Finished with cream and fruit compote, they were one of the day’s most popular treats.

More Than Food: Traditional Moments Shared

Elias played a song from East Timor about leaving loved ones behind to build a life abroad. It was one of the day’s most memorable moments.

What the Day Meant to Us

Arthur Mallon Foods has been making sausages and meat products in Monaghan for over 85 years. Rooted in Irish pork and proud of every product that leaves the factory, the business has always been built on people.

Today, those people represent 24 nationalities, from Poland and Ukraine to East Timor and beyond. Together, they have found a job, a team, and somewhere to belong.

It was a clear reminder of the togetherness we value, and the richness our colleagues bring to Arthur Mallon Foods every day.

Niall, who recently joined us as a placement student, shared what the day meant to him:

“As a new member of the team, I felt really welcomed. The day was a great icebreaker and helped me meet people from across the business. Seeing everyone celebrate together showed me the strong sense of belonging and community here at Arthur Mallon Foods.”

Happy Cultural Diversity Day. Thank you to every colleague who helped make the day so special, and to all 24 nationalities that make Arthur Mallon Foods what it is today.
